So this guy walks in the front desk, picked up a magazine and walked out. Several minutes later he brought the magazine back, when it dawned on me, that he took the magazine to use as reading material while he used that john. So if you take the magazine to read while you do that stuff, why would you bring it back and up it down for someone one else to read? It bugs my mind how nasty some folks...

“I hated for a five-year-old to be subjected to such an experience,” Henson said. “I’d like her to view police as people she can trust instead of threats to her and her family,  but it’s possible I live in the wrong neighborhood for that.” The question i have is, how could this have been handled differently? You have report of a kidnapping, and I for one would want...

So a few hours before we all learn that Whitney Houston was dead, i removed her ‘I Look to you’ album. Since news broke of her death, it seem like everywhere i turn someone is playing one of her songs; I’m not going to lie, i have not played one Whitney Houston song since i learn of her death; to me doing so would feel hypocritical. The last time i could remember playing a...

Traveling Light in a Time of Digital Thievery →
When Kenneth G. Lieberthal, a China expert at the Brookings Institution, travels to that country, he follows a routine that seems straight from a spy film. He leaves his cellphone and laptop at home and instead brings “loaner” devices, which he erases before he leaves the United States and wipes clean the minute he returns. In China, he disables Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, never lets his phone out of...

Only this afternoon i was cleaning up my computer, deleting photos that i don’t need anymore, or for some reason or the other, no longer mean anything to me, music that i just don’t listen to anymore, for whatever reason. And Whitney’s last album ‘I look to you’ was one of those albums that got deleted. Now maybe had i not done that when i did, this album may have...

So i went to this restaurant for lunch today. The menu was written on a board, so you would think that if the board was written up today that whatever is on the board they would be serving. Well not so, had to choose about three different orders, before they found something that they could actually serve today.  Days like this i wish i had an iPhone. can’t really be walking around with a...

Got into work, opened up the office; lady walks in looked at me and asked, “is anybody here?” Sometimes it gets hard for me to keep that, are you serious? look off my face.

Nadal vs. Djokovic: Here We Are Again, My Friend →
Until this tournament, I never fully realized how much Nadal means to tennis. I knew he was a great player, obviously. But I’m a goner for Federer, and Nadal has often felt to me like an infuriating obstacle, a berserk dervish with the demonic power to out-frenzy Roger’s grace and lucidity. His tennis was a bludgeoning adrenaline rush, a Ramones song that lasted four hours. Had he...

As should be clear by now, Apple is only being singled out by the Times because it is at the top of the tech heap, and while that may be fair game given Apple’s unbelievable profit, it overstates the ability of the company to act as a macroeconomic force. Not making excuses for Apple, but it seem like not only does Apple profit from there products, but the news media also profit when they...

chartier: Apple sold more iPads last quarter than HP sold PCs. Those iPads are used to read books, write books, create and give presentations, get directions, teach med students and lawyers, run companies, drive home theater systems, play games—a thousand things we have done with computers for years, and much more. But if you’re still not thinking about the iPad as a “personal computer” because...

So I’ve been driving around for a couple weeks now with an expired drivers license; didn’t realise this until last night, when i remembered to check if this was the year i was suppose to renew it. Well let’s hope between now and Friday i don’t have any encounters with a police for any reason at all.

THE ANSWER IS IN THE NAME →
The bottom line is, the answer is in the name — iBooks Author, not ePub Author, or Pages 2012. As much as people would like to think that iBooks Author is a general purpose book publishing tool, Apple clearly thinks otherwise.
